Installing Centos 7 on an Intel NUC
Intel has come out with a really nice small form factor computer call the NUC. It has 2 USB 2.0 ports and 4 USB 3.0 ports. It is 5.4 x 4.9 x 3.5 inches in size. Bluetooth, wifi and Gigibit Ethernet are all included. However there are a few tricks to get Centos 7 to install
The model I have worked with is BOXNUC6CAYH.
Step one:
Update the BIOS. At the time I did this, the most recent bios was version 0040. The unit I had came with version 0032. Download the latest version from here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/
Step two:
Go into the BIOS setup. Select Advanced – > Boot. Find the section labeled “UEFI Boot” Change the OS Selection to “Linux” Hit F10 to save and exit.
Install Centos 7 from a USB Stick
Step three:
Go here and install Kernel version 4.x to get dual monitors working
Have fun!
